Chapter Membership Information 

The following categories of membership are available in the Dallas Area Chapter:  

 

• Member (CFE)
• Associate Member (Qualified Non-CFE)
• Student Associate

 

The membership year runs from January through December.

Local Chapter membership can be obtained by providing the information requested on the Application Form.

 

To become a CFE Member, you must have the CFE designation and be a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). To become an Associate Member, the only prerequisite is that you have a professional interest in the field of fraud examination.

 

Typical Chapter members include accountants, auditors, investigators, law enforcement personnel, loss prevention specialists, attorneys and prosecutors, managers and executives, academicians and anti-fraud consultants.

 

Annual dues for each category of Chapter membership are $40, $40 and $10, respectively, and do not include ACFE dues.

Membership Categories

 

Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) - Open to current members of the ACFE interested in positioning themselves as leaders in the prevention, detection, deterrence and investigation of fraud. The CFE is a globally preferred credential that continues to gain momentum as a symbol of quality in the anti-fraud profession.

 

Associate - Open to individuals interested in the prevention, detection, deterrence and investigation of fraud and fraud-related activities. If you are a professional interested in learning more about fighting fraud, Associate membership with the ACFE provides you with the knowledge, resources and training you need.

 

Educator Associate - Open to individuals who are employed by an institution of higher learning, as an educator, as your primary means of employment.

 

Student Associate - Open to undergraduate students enrolled at least 12 semester hours (or equivalent) or graduate students enrolled at least 9 semester hours (or equivalent), in a college or university or equivalent.

 

Which membership type is right for me? 

 

Anyone interested in becoming a Certified Fraud Examiner should apply for Associate Membership. Associate Membership provides the same benefits as CFE Membership and is a prerequisite for applying for the CFE Exam.

 

College students in their third or final year of their Bachelors degree should consider the Student Associate program. Professors or teaching staff at a university or college should consider the Educator Associate program.

 

If you do not meet the qualifications necessary to apply for Associate Membership, but could still benefit from an affiliation with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, you may consider the Affiliate Program.
